1 min read

Police are appealing for witnesses after two suspicious scrub fires in the Port Hills yesterday.

The first fire was reported shortly after midnight near Worsleys Road.

The second was reported at 11:30pm near Summit Road.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in either area at the times of the fires.

"Police will be increasing patrols in the Port Hills area to prevent this occurring again," says Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam.

He advises anyone with information to share should contact Christchurch Police on (03) 363 7400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police would also like to remind anyone that if they see anything suspicious, they should call 111 immediately.
