Two men stabbed in New Brighton incident

A 38-year-old man is facing two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an incident in New Brighton overnight.

Two men were stabbed during the incident, with one receiving around 20 stab wounds to the head, neck and torso, and the other receiving around 10 stab wounds to the shoulder.

The first victim remains in Christchurch Hospital, while the second victim has received medical treatment and been discharged.

The 38-year-old man was arrested late last night.  He is also charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and was due to appear in Christchurch District Court today.
