Update Thames death

1 min read

As area enquiries around a Thames property where a man suffered fatal injuries carry on, a post-mortem into his death continues.

Area Manager Investigations, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead, of the Waikato CIB confirmed the death of 49-year-old Thames man Michael Brett GODWIN was being treated as potentially suspicious.

"Mr GODWIN died on Sunday night in Waikato Hospital after he was flown there from Thames by air ambulance after suffering critical injuries at a Queens St address.

"A man who appeared in the Hamilton District Court yesterday in relation to the alleged assaults on two women at the address about the same time as Mr GODWIN suffered his injuries was remanded in custody and granted interim name suppression."
