Wairarapa Police searching for driver who may have important information about crash

1 min read

Wairarapa Police are investigating a crash where a motorcyclist was seriously injured and are trying to identify the driver of a vehicle who drove by the motorcyclist seconds before the crash occured. The crash happened around 3.40pm on Sunday 6 July 2014 on Te Whiti Road near the intersection of Homebush Road, Masterton.

The motorcyclist was the only person involved and injured in the crash. Police would like to speak with the driver of a four-door station wagon similar to a Ford Mondeo that was travelling away from Masterton on Te Whiti Road.

Sergeant Richard Gibson says "The driver of this vehicle is not in any trouble and is likely to hold information which would assist the investigation. The driver of this car may not even be aware that the motorcycle has gone on to crash."

"It appears the driver of the motorcycle lost control before travelling into a tight corner and crashed into a fence.  He was airlifted to Wellington Hospital where he remains in a serious condition."
