Wiri death considered suspicious

Counties Manukau Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 45 year old man at a commercial premises in Wiri this afternoon.  Police and emergency services were called to the scene just before 2pm after a man was found unconscious.  The man died at the scene.

Police are treating the death as suspicious and a number of witnesses are currently being spoken to.  A post mortem is scheduled for tomorrow which will give an indication as to the cause of death. 

“The investigation is in its early stages,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander.  “Preliminary witness accounts indicate that an altercation had taken place, however until all witnesses have been identified and spoken to, Police are unable to make further comment on the circumstances of the death.”
