Yes we do get drink drivers on a weekday morning

1 min read

Hamilton Police instantly suspended a female driver’s license for 28 days after she blew 735 micrograms of alcohol, per litre of breath, at a Snell Drive checkpoint this morning.

"This woman was toasted at 8.00am in the morning" said Sergeant Paul Scoble of the Waikato Traffic Alcohol Group.

“She won the jackpot and spent the night drinking all her profits. She slept in her car and then attempted to drive home,” Sgt Scoble said.

“People still ask us on morning checkpoints do you get drink drivers at this time of the day?”

“Drink drivers don't discriminate with the time of day.  It was only through the grace of God she didn't kill anyone on the road in her condition," Sgt Scoble said.

The intoxicated driver will appear in the Hamilton District Court.
