A tip-off by a member of the public led Feilding officers to a commercial-size cannabis grow on an unsuspecting farmer’s property.
It all began when a person out walking on a river access way in the Kimbolton area noticed the plants and informed the farmer, who immediately reported the grow to Police.
Acting Sergeant Ben Stanley, OC Feilding, says a team of officers attended the property last Wednesday (3 April) to seize the plants.
“We ended up pulling 143 plants from a small clearing that had been created relatively out of sight,” says Ben.
“The plants ranged from half a metre high to two-and-a-half metres high, and most of them were ready for harvesting.
“It didn’t take long to remove the plants and the farmer was very appreciative of our efforts.”
While no one has come forward to report the plants missing, the quick reporting grow helped officers respond swiftly.
“Needless to say, someone out there will be disappointed when they realise their grow has been removed,” says Ben.
“I want to thank the community for their vigilance and encourage them to continue promptly reporting suspicious activity to Police.”
