This page explains how approved New Zealand vetting agencies can request a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check through the New Zealand Police Vetting Service.
Approved New Zealand vetting agencies can request a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (“Australian check”) for staff or volunteers who have lived in Australia. This is at the approved agency’s discretion - NZ Police cannot advise whether an Australian check is necessary.
To request an Australian check, the approved agency must ensure the relevant sections of the NZ Police Vet and Australian check - Request and Consent Form are completed.
- For agencies that require -
- a NZ Police Vet and Australian check, ensure all three sections (7 pages) of the form are completed.
- an Australian check only, ensure sections 1 and 3 are completed.
- Log in to the Vetting Service website and select ‘Submit Request’.
- Enter the vetting subject’s details, and tick the box for an ‘Australian check’.
Please note; there is a fee for an Australian check. This can be found on the NPCS website.
Australian checks are processed by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission who aim to complete 95% of checks within 10 working days.
NZ Police is an Accredited Body within the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC).
