Waugh judgment under study

1 min read

Police are studying yesterday’s decision of Justice Goodard in the Waugh case before deciding next steps.

Police spokesperson, Michael Player, indicated that Police were unable to comment substantively on the judgment pending discussions with legal advisers.

"It’s a highly detailed 37 pages that will require very close analysis. With the legal process still in train Police are very much constrained in providing any public commentary.

"It is pleasing, however, that the judge has commented that the veracity of witnesses at the hearing was beyond question and that there was no evidence of any deliberate and dominant purpose of coercing Mr Waugh to resign from New Zealand Police," the spokesperson said.
