New Contaminants identified

1 min read

Three new contaminants have been identified in the products tampered with recently. Since the recall of Blis K12 Throat Guard and Clearasil Sensitive Deep Pore Cleansing Toner on 6 May, three returned items have been sent for examination by ESR.

Detective Inspector Peter READ says that there is confirmation this week that acetic acid and acetone have been identified in the tampered products and preliminary indication that methyl salicylate is also present. Previously phenol and chloroform were identified.

"Of these contaminants, phenol is the most dangerous," says Detective Inspector Read.

Anyone who has any concerns about using any health product they are using should contact their doctor.
