Police investigating a series of incidents at banks in the Waikato arrested two men near Morrinsville yesterday afternoon.
The arrests follow an incident in the Matamata branch of Westpac when a man entered the bank shortly after 2pm and presented a note to the teller demanding money.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene of the Hamilton CIB said this incident mirrored another earlier in the day in Cambridge. "A description of a vehicle in that incident had been broadcast earlier in the day and Morrinsville staff responding to events in Matamata spotted a four-wheel-drive vehicle matching that description on Chepwell Rd.

"As a result two Hamilton men aged 30 and 17-years-old were arrested and jointly charged with four counts of demanding with menaces," said Mr Greene. Those charges relate to events at the Dinsdale branch of Westpac on June 16, the Hamilton East Westpac on June 24 and the two incidents yesterday. The pair will be appearing in the Hamilton District Court today. End
