Death of 22 month old in Morrinsville

1 min read

Waikato Police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem being carried out in Auckland today on the body of a young Morrinsville girl who died in Waikato Hospital overnight (27 September).

It is hoped the examination will be able to indicate to investigators the cause of the 22-month-old's death.

The girl was taken to the hospital yesterday after suffering serious injuries. Police are interviewing a number of people who they believe may be able to help them establishing the cause of her injuries.

A Police cordon has been established around a Studholme St address in Morrinsville in order for investigators to identify if there are any links to the property and the child's death.

The girl's death has been referred to the Coroner.

No further information in relation to this matter will be released today and no member of the inquiry team is available for comment.

An update will be issued tomorrow morning.
