Police have made further contact with Birgit Brauer's parents in Dresden last night. They are devastated and shocked about what has happened to their daughter. They have no plans to come over to New Zealand said Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward.

Police will also be making contact with Birgit's flatmate in Dresden.

"We are still appealing for sightings of Birgit Brauer between 9am and 10am on Tuesday 20 September 2005 in Waitotara," says Detective Coward.

The Police believe Birgit Brauer got into a 4-wheel drive vehicle, a stationwagon style, dark grey or black in colour with off road ground clearance, at Waitotara at about 9.30am, anyone with information about sightings of this vehicle please contact police.

"The investigation team greatly appreciates the information received from the public. So far the 0800 number has received 50 calls and police stations around the country have received numerous calls, in particular Wanganui and New Plymouth stations," says Detective Senior Sergeant Coward.

"A huge amount of information has been received and the investigation team is currently prioritising and working through it at the moment," he says.

The scene in Lucy's Gully was blessed yesterday by The Reverend Albie Martin, the scene search has now been completed and cordons have been removed. The area is now assessable to the public.
