1 min read

New Plymouth Police have today released the name of a young local man who died when he lost control of his car, and crashed into a wall on Frankley Road, Ferndale, New Plymouth, early on Saturday morning.

He was Jordan Levi Newbold, aged 21, of New Plymouth, who was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Senior Sergeant Allan Whaley, New Plymouth Police, said the serious crash unit is back at the site today as part of the investigation into what happened. Police believe Mr Newbold was travelling north on Frankley Road, near the Barclay Road intersection when he lost control on a slight corner.

“It’s likely that speed was a contributing factor to this tragedy,” Senior Sergeant Whaley said.

Witnesses to the 1am, Saturday, crash are asked to call New Plymouth Police on telephone 06 759 5500.
