One person is dead and another critically injured following a head-on collision near Haast, on the West Coast of the South Island today.
The accident happened about 4pm near Moaeraki, between Haast and Fox Glacier.
The deceased person is a male New Zealander and the critically injured person is an international tourist. Both are believed to have been passengers in vehicles.
Greymouth Police said early indications were that one vehicle had crossed the centre line.
