Wanted Man - Richard Duthie - Appears in Court

High profile fugitive Richard DUTHIE appeared in the Waitakere District Court this afternoon and has been remanded in custody until Monday 15 October 2007.

DUTHIE was arrested at 4.30am this morning by the Police Armed Offenders Squad during a dawn raid carried out at an apartment block in the suburb of Grafton, Auckland.

Although Police were met with some resistance no shots were fired during the arrest. Two pistols were located in the apartment along with a substantial amount of cash.

Duthie appeared in Court on six firearms related charges. These include:

  • possession of a Glock pistol,   • possession of a Beretta .38 pistol,  • possession of 9mm rounds of ammunition.   • possession of a pistol viz. an unknown handgun,   • using a firearm against a member of the police,   • assault with a weapon.

DUTHIE entered no plea and no application for bail was made.

Police have released images of the two pistols found in the apartment.
