The Police working on the homicide say that both scenes were completed by 5pm tonight. Stanmore Road was reopened by 4pm.

"I would like to thank everyone who has come forward and assisted police," says Superintendent Sandra Manderson. "I should also like to thank all those people who have been inconvenienced over the last few days."

"We will be continuing to interview witnesses. The inquiry will now focus on the many witness statements, consolidating the work we have completed over the last few days," she says.

Superintendent Manderson confirmed that four cartridges were located and two projectiles have been recovered at the scene.

It has now been established that the victim used a golf club to damage a van at the Trent Street/ Avonside Drive address. He was carrying a shoulder bag containing a hunting knife in a sheath when he was on Stanmore Road.

Anyone who has information and not yet come forward is asked to contact the inquiry base phone 363 7620. The base phones will be staffed from 9am - 5pm over the weekend.

There will be no further media release until Monday.
