Christchurch Police have confirmed that the man who received severe burns in an incident last month has died of his injuries.
Terrance Martin Smith, aged 55, of Christchurch, died at approximately 6.30pm last night [Wednesday 8 May] in Middlemore Hospital, Auckland.
Mr Smith received severe burns in an incident at a Woolston address on Thursday 25 April. He was transferred to Middlemore Hospital for specialist treatment on 26 April but his condition did not improve.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Sweeney says Police will now consider laying further charges against the two men previously charged with assault in relation to the incident.
