A female pedestrian has been struck by a car and killed on SH1 at Riverlands in Blenheim this evening.
The car was travelling north when it and the pedestrian collided about 5.45pm today.
The highway is open, but traffic is restricted to one lane and drivers are asked to take extreme care.
A serious crash investigator is enroute to the scene.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw a female pedestrian dressed in dark clothing walking near SH1 around the time of the crash. Anyone with information can contact Blenheim Police Ph 578 5279.
