Police seeking the father of a two-year-old boy taken from his mother's home in Waihi over the weekend are following leads that indicate the pair may be in Napier.

Logan BRADY'S mother was asleep at her Waihi home when her former partner, Charles Ronald POURAU, 32, is alleged to have taken the little boy about 6pm Sunday.

POURAU drove off with the boy in the woman's car, a 1992 Mitsubishi Eterna, registration TX2870.

Both Police and the boy's mother hold concerns for the wellbeing of Logan.

POURAU has also been known to use the first name Chas or Charlie and is also known as Ronald Charles BOWER.

He is known to have contacts between the Hawkes Bay and Auckland and today Police were able to trace his movements to Napier and are currently following up lines of inquiry in the Hawkes Bay region.

POURAU is described as a light skinned male Maori of medium build, Logan is a two-year-old light skinned blond haired boy.

Due to the small size of the Waihi station and it's reliance on a small number of phone lines and because the inquiry team are off site actively seeking the missing child media are requested not to continue making follow up calls to Waihi.

Further updates will be made via this format.

Anyone who may have seen POURAU, Logan or the missing Mitsubishi Eterna car or has any information on their whereabouts is asked to dial 111 or phone Waihi Police Station on 07-8638179.
