People in the Silverstream area of Hutt Valley are being asked to keep a look out for Aileen Sue.
The 76-year-old local woman went for a walk at 5pm and did not return home.
Aileen Sue has dementia and is described as Asian, of small build with black hair.
She was wearing a purple jacket, beige trousers and purple sneakers.
She has been previously located in the back yard of residential addresses in the area.
Police are asking local residents to check their backyards and keep a look out for Aileen Sue.
