Black ice warning for motorists in Greymouth

1 min read

Black ice is causing issues for motorists in parts of Greymouth  this morning, prompting a warning for motorists to take extra care and watch their speeds.

By 7.15am on Wednesday 8 June, there had already been three separate incidents of vehicles sliding off Taylorville Road, between Greymouth and Taylorville, due to the icy conditions. No-one’s been injured but the road is still very slippery.

Council vehicles are gritting the affected roads but police are asking motorists to drive to the conditions, including keeping their speeds down and allowing plenty of stopping distance.
