Police appeal for information after incident in Avondale

Police are investigating an incident where a 28 year-old woman has woken up to find an intruder in her home in Avondale yesterday morning, Friday 3 June 2016.

A man entered the woman's home in the Rosebank area of Avondale at about 7am. The woman woke up to find the man on top of her, he has then left the property.

Detective Senior Sergeant Marcia Murray of Avondale Police says, "this incident was very distressing for the victim and we are continuing to provide her with the appropriate support."

"Police have spoken to the victim, a scene examination was completed yesterday and evidence has been seized for forensic examination.”

"Our area inquiries are ongoing and we want to speak to anyone that saw any suspicious activity in the Rosebank area yesterday morning between 5:30am and 7am."

Police advise residents to be vigilant and ensure their properties are secure and to report any suspicious activity.
