Police charge local man with Ashburton Hotel Super Liquor burglary

Canterbury Police executed a search warrant at an Ashburton address today (9 January 2015) as a result of investigations following the burglary of Ashburton Hotel Super Liquor at approximately 5am on yesterday morning (8 January 2015).

Officer in Charge of Ashburton Police, Senior Sergeant Scott Banfield, said “a number of items of interest were located at the property and a 24 year old Ashburton man was arrested.   He will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow, 10 January 2015, charged with burglary of the Ashburton Hotel Super Liquor.  There are ongoing inquiries to locate a second offender in relation to this burglary”

Police investigations are continuing.

Senior Sergeant Scott Banfield says all the officers based in Ashburton value the support of the community and are determined to hold offenders accountable for their actions.  “We encourage the public to ring 111 in an emergency or if you see any suspicious activity occurring in your neighbourhood.  Please call the Ashburton Police station (03) 307 8400 for general enquiries or historical matters.”
