Police identify and locate alleged offender for Torbay aggravated robberies

Statement to be attributed to Inspector Shanan Gray, Area Commander, North Shore Police

Police have identified the person alleged to be responsible for two aggravated robberies in Torbay last week.

Footage of the aggravated robbery at a Mobil station in Torbay was released last week, and Police received a number of calls from the public with information.

A 37 year-old Stanmore Bay man has been identified and was located by Police in Matakana on Saturday afternoon.  

He is currently receiving medical treatment for an unrelated matter and will be spoken to by Police once his health improves.

It is expected that he will be charged with the two aggravated robberies.

Police would like to thank the many members of the public who phoned in with information and shared the video from the Waitemata Police Facebook page.
