Police pursuit in Waikato ends safely, three arrested

At about 10:24pm on Tuesday 17 May, Police stopped a vehicle on Greenwood St in Hamilton where the plates did not match the vehicle.  The vehicle then drove off at speed.

A pursuit was initiated which went up Greenwood St and on to the new Expressway where the offending car was spiked at Taupiri and came to a stop at Taupiri Mountain after about 24kms.

Items were thrown out of the car during the pursuit. These included onions and a glass chopping board that became embedded in the front plastic grill of the following Police vehicle.

The three male occupants,  of the vehicle were arrested without incident.  All are gang members from Northland.

A number of police staff were involved to bring the pursuit to a safe conclusion.  Three men, aged 26, 24 and 23 have been arrested and face charges of Failing to Stop, Reckless Driving, Driving while Forbidden, endangering transport by throwing items and some of the men had warrants to arrest.

All three will be appearing before the Waikato District Court this morning, 18 May 2016.
