At about 4.20 pm on Tuesday the 29th of December police and emergency services were called to a two car crash on SH1 south of Clinton.
SH1 has both lanes blocked by the crash, diversions are currently in place while the scene is being dealt with.
Two occupants, one from each vehilce were flown to Dunedin hospital with serious injuries.
Six people in total were injured in this crash, this included two children from one vehicle aged 6 and 18 months.
The State Highway should be re opend from 11.00 pm.
