Whakatane Police have arrested and charged an 18 year old man for the murder of a 23 year old Kawerau man following the suspicous death in Kawerau yesterday.
The arrested person will appear in the Whakatane District Court at 1.30pm Thursday the 3rd of March.
His bail will be opposed and Police are seeking no other persons, at this stage, in relation to this enquiry.
A large team of police remain on the enquiry and are seeking any information from the public of any suspicious activity between Hill Street and Whittaker Street in Kawerau, between the hours of 11.00pm Tuesday night the 1st and 01.30am Wednesday morning the 2nd of March.
