Police have just been advised that the cat which was hit by a patrol car in Henderson on Friday has died.
Sadly the cat had to be euthanised yesterday by the SPCA.
"This is obviously not the ending we wanted and we're sorry if we got anyone's hopes up. We had a lot of media interest in the story of this cat and thanks to everyone for your help, but despite our best efforts this is the sad outcome" says Sgt Michael Lawes, Waitakere Police.
Police would still like to find the cat's owner. They are asked to contact Sgt Michael Lawes on 09 839 0600.
