Waitakere Police looking for owners of black cat

1 min read

Waitakere Police are looking for the owners of a black cat, which Police officers took to the vet after it ran onto the road and was hit by a patrol car last Friday.

A patrol car was driving along Lincoln Road in Henderson, towards Swanson Road, when the black cat ran out onto the road. The officer was unable to avoid it and unfortunately it was hit by the car.

Officers stopped and began an immediate search for the cat. They managed to find the animal and discovered it was injured.

Police took the cat to a vet and it has received treatment for a broken leg. It wasn't micro chipped and the owner is unknown.

"Pets are part of a person's family and we're obviously very keen to get this guy back home. He's a black domestic short-haired male, neutered and aged around 12-15 years old" says Sgt Michael Lawes, Waitakere Police.

The owner is asked to call Sgt Lawes on 09 839 0600 or email michael.lawes@police.govt.nz
