Taita Homicide - arrest

Today Police have arrested and charged a 19 year old Hutt Valley female with Murder.

The female from Lower Hutt will appear in the Lower Hutt District Court on Monday 9th February 2015.

This charge relates to the death of 39 year old Adam Watkins at an address in High Street, Taita.  A post mortem has concluded that he died as a result of gunshot injuries.

The arrested female was known to the deceased Mr. Watkins and other occupants at the address in Taita.

Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee from the Wellington District CIB states "we have spoken to a number of people in regards to this homicide investigation.  This has resulted in Police arresting another person for the alledged murder of Mr. Watkins.

I would like to reassure the community of Taita and Lower Hutt that Police are not actively seeking any other outstanding persons involved in the death of Mr. Watkins.  Police continue to support members of the victims family through this trying time.

I would like to hear from any persons that saw a white Nissan Micra vehicle in the Taita area around 8pm on Thursday 5th February 2015.  This vehicle left the deceased's address at High Street Taita, with four occupants before returning to the address about 20 minutes later.

It is pleasing to resolve this matter at this early stage however, again it it important for any persons with any information that can help us, to come forward and contact Police".
