How to pay

Log onto your bank website and search for Police Infringement Bureau or Safety Infringements.

Alternatively make a one-off payment using these account details:

Account Name: Police Infringement Bureau

Account Number: 03-0049-0000802-27

The following references must be included to show on the payee’s statement:

Particulars: Notice number

Code: Vehicle registration number

Reference: Driver licence number (optional)

IMPORTANT: Each infringement notice must be paid individually. If you are a company wishing to pay multiple notices, see the "Bulk payment option for companies" section below.

Notice Number
Please ensure you provide the correct notice number when making payment. We require the correct notice number in order for the payment to reconcile in our system.

Payment must be made in full
Part payments are not accepted. Either the total amount owing on a notice must be paid, or the full amount of an individual offence. Part paid fees will be returned and the infringement will remain due for payment, in one full amount, by the due date.

Pay by the due date
If the fee is not paid by the final due date, the infringement is automatically filed in court and it becomes a fine for collection by the Ministry of Justice. They will send you a Notice of Fine and you must contact or pay the fine to the Ministry of Justice. A court cost will be added to the fine when it gets filed in Court.

Bulk payment option for companies

Companies can pay multiple infringement notices with a single bulk payment. After doing so with your company’s usual banking software or service, a payment schedule containing details of the infringement notices must be provided (schedule template and instructions can be obtained through emailing payment@police.govt.nz).

If your company wishes to pay a single infringement notice, a one-off payment can be made using the bank account and method outlined at the top of the page.
